The novel taste of teen dialect .......!!!!!

Newsclipping of a group work on Novel styles in Kochi

        SEGMENT ASSIGNED: DIALECT

The pace of tones been clinged to the communication mannerisms among teens have witnessed quite an interesting twist in god’ s own country. “heyyyy Bro....”” “yay mahn”.....have become new modes of greetings among the youngsters of today. “dude, machans and gedi” are unavoidable in any speech” ,say kochites in unison.

Harikrishnan .P hailing from palarivattam, a marketing student of Rajagiri college kakkanad witneses this trend as an energy booster. He says" when I receive a 'Hi machan' text message, my attachement and affection to the person who texts increases.I have friends from different districts and this new step in language unites us all ".And so is this an inevitable style statement to curl down the normal traits of speaking onto a different track.

Whilst a few of these slangs bring our eyeballs out when you take a clear look at the connotative meaning and compare it with the denotative meaning. This goes well with the usage of “my chunk brozz” where the dictionary meaning of chunk means“ ......a portion”. This has been thoroughly understood by certain youth sets too. Thereby the colloquial weaving of any word to a trendsetter sometimes sound ironical and less sensible.

Habeeb Rahman a Bcom student from perumbavoor, thinks an all-time freaken style won't win many hearts. He says" It doesnt sound and look cool to be crowned with a freakan title. And so am I not a follower of this trend. With my close friends I have a great bond and so I uses different language styles. But in casual talks I think its not a wise choice." And so we have quite a big crowd who finds this style less pleasing.Morris Anto from Edapilly opines" Its awkward to address my friend in a so called freakan style ,specially infront of my parents. I feel its an odd style”.

” English, Hinglish and Manglish” highlighting a mix of hindi and Malayalam conjoining with English too is making newer setbacks when it comes to verbal trends. Every nuances of this segment proves the vital role of movie dialogues and its influence on teens too. “polichu machaane” (welldone man) ,dark scenenaaanu” (its complicated) and so on makes the stream of new-gen Malayalam .

The tone, tenor and tint of this change is also revolving around the social networking styles wherein every profile photo follows with a manglish and novel caption..Praises and appreciations too have gone a way too informal like “kidu” (awesome), “nee vere level aanu”( you are outstanding). This recent fad has gulped down the young minds in a perfect vogue.Rishma Mariya ,an interiour designing student from thrissur says " My friends of kochi have made a strong rapport with people embracing this new trendy language. Its beautiful to see a new pace; wrapping culture and style together."

“Hangouts meet its complete form when filled with these joyous greetings like : buddy,my man, machan(pal) etc...” say youngsters of kochi with welcoming warm hearts to these changing language modes. This has brought people together wrapping with sense of acceptance to coming styles. Foreseeing the stance of this matter, it is evident a fact that language-fashionistas are in abundance crowning the literary world with new flavours.
